Assistant Director

The Cambridge-Ellis School is seeking an experienced, professional and enthusiastic early childhood educator to join the leadership team in this exciting opportunity. The desired start date is June 1, 2017.

Cambridge-Ellis School is an accredited preschool near Harvard Square, Cambridge.  We are a play-based school with a child focused, emergent curriculum, an emphasis on learning through the arts, and an immersion language program in the afternoon.

The Assistant Director reports to the Director and provides leadership and support to all faculty and staff.  The Assistant Director provides leadership to the Language Program; oversees the Summer Program; assists in meeting all licensing requirements (DEEC) and maintaining accreditation standards (NAEYC); is responsible for updating faculty records, and oversees program purchasing.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Directing the language immersion program, including supporting and supervising all language program faculty and chairing the Language Committee
  • Directing the Summer Program enrollment and implementation
  • Communicating with parents, primarily of the language and summer programs
  • Leading the admissions process together with the director, including processing applications, scheduling and conducting parent tours
  • Assisting director in planning and organizing professional development training
  • Maintaining teachers’ files and records, ensuring files are current and updated
  • Participating in re-licensing and re-accreditation processes
  • Responsible for a range of administrative duties

Qualifications and Skills

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • EEC Director II certified (or working towards certification)
  • Lead Teacher Infant/Toddler and Preschool certified
  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • A minimum of five years teaching and/or administrative experience (with a supervisory role preferred)

The ideal candidate possesses strong communication and organization skills, is enthusiastic, warm and energetic with an emphasis on team building. Multi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.  The position requires proficiency skills in Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and strong familiarity with Apple computers and applications.

Teach Abroad! Teach Preschool in Taiwan

Cambridge-Ellis School, Cambridge, MA invites you to join the staff of our partner school, Saint James’ Preschool in Taichung, Taiwan. Now in our 10th year, this program grants a rare opportunity to immerse oneself in the unique and beautiful Chinese culture and to experience the joy of teaching young children in their early education system.

This is a full year position with option to extend year to year. Teachers work 40 hours per week with children as young as 2 and a half years old. The school term begins August 1, 2017 and ends July 31 2018. We offer a competitive compensation that includes free housing, utilities, airfare, weekday lunch, 70% health insurance, paid vacation days and opportunity to learn Mandarin.
